Y’all come

Offering thrilling rides, the 66th Annual Blount County Fair is heading your way. This family tradition, which began in Blount County in 1953, will be held Sept. 10-14. Gates will open at 5 p.m.

The Blount County fair is one of only 22 county fairs held throughout the state. This year’s fair will feature a professionally managed and family-friendly midway full of rides to suit all ages. It will also offer a multitude of “fair food,” livestock shows, and hundreds of exhibits and booths.

Booth registration has already begun; do not delay in getting your business or organization registered before space runs out.Registration form is available online at www.bcoabc.com/fair.

Some midway rides will have height restrictions. The exhibition hall will host booths sponsored by community service organizations, churches, and other non-profits groups. Door prize registration will also take place inside the hall.

The fun doesn’t end there. Hundreds of entered items including garden vegetables, canned goods, flowers, quilts, paintings, photographs, flowers, clothing, and a whole lot more, will be on display.

Gate admission will be $5 for everyone except children two and under. They can enter the gate for free, but must purchase an armband if they are going to ride the kiddie rides. Armbands can then be purchased for $10 to ride all the rides. For more information about this year’s fair, visit www.blountcountyfair.com or call 205-274-8839.
