Two people were injured in a Nov. 26 accident that occurred on Ala 75 near Zaxby’s. One passenger was transported to St. Vincent’s Blount while the other victim was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital.
The 10:47 a.m. wreck occurred when a 2015 Buick, driven by Margaret Tielking, was traveling south on Ala 75 and tried to turn left into the McDaniel Shopping Center and collided with a 2011 Toyota Tacoma driven by Jose Trinidad Cervantes Hernandez.
According to the Oneonta Police Department report, the Toyota, which had a small utility trailer in tow, hit the Buick near the back tire of the passenger side. The Buick spun around and landed on a nearby curb. The Toyota began to slide and came to rest after hitting a steel light post on the driver’s side.
Tielking was transported to St. Vincent’s Blount and later released. Hernandez was airlifted from the scene to a Birmingham hospital where he remained as of Monday. The passenger in the Toyota was not injured.
OPD spent more than two hours getting the scene cleared up and photographing the incident. There are no charges expected to be filed.
