Wind pulls a few strings for Kite Day

The sky over the Hayden football field Thursday afternoon was a swarm of high-flying kites, as Hayden Primary’s annual Kite Day became the perfect excuse for many elementary students and their parents to fly kites. The football field transformed into a rolling sea of children, flying geckos, Barbie, and fantastical kites, each trying to be the one to harness the wind. Attendees ducked and dodged the dipping kites and nearly invisible strings as they fought to keep their own kites aloft in the strong wind. Pictured are Will Corder and his dad, Chris, who came to the event to fly a brightly colored gecko kite. Not pictured is Will’s mom, Sophie, who accompanied them. – Tanna Friday
