Not since the days of Caesar Augustus, when he decreed that all the world should be taxed, have we had a government so hungry for taxes.
The mayor-council of Locust Fork decreed a tax upon the Pine Bluff Water Authority. In turn, the tax will be passed on to the customers.
If you live in the town limits, your tax will be 3 percent. If you live within 1.5 miles from the nearest town limits, you will be taxed at 1.5 percent. Your total tax could be more than 6 percent per customer.
Pine Bluff Water Authority has recently built a new service building, and if you the customer would attend the next board meeting on Sept. 21 at 5 p.m., I have something to say that you need to hear and incredibly something I want you to see with your own eyes.
You may ask what can we the voters do. I say to you, stand up now for what is right.
You may very well be pleased to pay more taxes, but not for me. If you want to show your displeasure to this outrageous tax, show up at the Pine Bluff water building on Sept. 21 at 5 p.m.
