Walk for Hope

Evaly Gonzalez, age 1, holds a blue pinwheel on the steps of the Blount County Courthouse last week after she accompanied her mom, Aleyda Villegas, to the first-ever Child Abuse Awareness Walk hosted by Blount County DHR. Supporters convened at the Frank Green Building before traveling to the courthouse where Oneonta Mayor Ross Norris presented a proclamation naming April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in the City of Oneonta. The DHR staff say this walk will continue and grow bigger next year in order to bring hope to abused children and recognize those who help them. – Nicole Singleton
