Veterans receive free Korean War books

Blount County veterans visited the Blount County Memorial Museum last week to pick up their ‘Korea Reborn: A Grateful Nation Honors War Veterans for 60 Years of Growth.’ The book, made by the South Korean government, was a free gift to veterans. Jack McNair, commander of Kelly Ingram Post 668, and Frank Waid, commander of Springville VFW 3229, delivered the books. A total of 62 books were given away. ‘Many Alabama veterans have looked through the pictures in this book and found pictures of themselves or pictures of places they knew,’ McNair said. Pictured, from left to right, are Waid, Ernest Cornelius, Myrtis Stephens, Mansell Garrett, Ed Congdon, Jack Courson, Larry Brewer, Everett Tidwell and McNair. “We are so appreciative of all of our Blount County veterans who served during the Korean conflict,” Rhudy said. Anyone interested in getting a book can contact Rhudy at 625-6905 for more information. – Nicole Singleton
