Veterans Day superlatives honored







The Freedom Award, considered the “best of show” award for the Veterans Day Parade, went to the float above, showing a Vietnam-era helicopter. The float was created by students at Southeastern School under the direction of science teacher Rhonda Lindley. Most Creative Float went to the Shriners. Oneonta High School Marching Band was judged the Best Marching Unit. The Best Decorated Vehicle award went to Van Gunter and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Pennington High School Marching Band and the Patriot Guard CMA were awarded honorable mention in their categories. Winners will be contacted and awards arranged, according to parade coordinator Leland Venable. – Ron Gholson
