A special ceremony honoring county veterans of foreign wars will be held at First Baptist Church of Oneonta following the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 7. The time is approximately 11:30 a.m., as soon as the parade itself concludes.
Organizer Wayne Bynum said the program will include guest speakers representing the Korean War and Vietnam War. Local veterans will be recognized by their branch of service in an observance in which each service’s flag will be displayed while its anthem is played. Members of each service branch will stand during their service’s observance. Wanda Gipson, wife of First Baptist pastor Larry Gipson, will sing “The Star Spangled Banner.”
