On Saturday, July 21, the Blount County Farmer’s Market will host the 2018 Vegetable Festival (formerly Special Day at the Market) at the Blount County-Oneonta Agri-Business Center from 8 a.m. until noon.
This family-friendly event is free and will allow those attending to explore all the wonderful vegetables and fruits grown and harvested by Blount County’s finest farmers.
Munchies, celebrities, and prizes will be featured throughout the festival. There will be opportunities to taste samples and purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
The fun doesn’t end there, as the dynamic duo of Jeremy and Chris from WCRL’s morning show will be broadcasting live during the event. This will be Jeremy’s last live broadcast, as he and his family will be moving to Oxford in the near future.
Having a talent for making kids smile, Dr. Wags from Main Street Urgent Care will also be on hand and available for pictures and hugs.
Prizes such as gift baskets of donated fruits and vegetables and gift cards will be given away. Winners must be present to claim their prizes.
Janet Dooley, who specializes in canned goods and fried pies, said, “We have worked really hard for this big day. Charlie B’s will be making free tomato sandwiches, and People’s Bank will offer free hotdogs and drinks. We want to give a special thanks to Alpine Advertising, as well as all the sponsors that will make this day such a success.” Other sponsors include Realty South, Evan’s Florist, Baswell Farms, WCRL, Otelco, Duane Tolbert State Farm, Main Street Family Urgent Care, and Terry Sligh.
Mark your calendars, and make plans now to attend. For more information, contact the Agri-Business Center at 274-8839.
