VANDLE DEAN KING SR., 87, Altoona, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Altoona Health and Rehab. He was born in Blount County August 18, 1932, to the late Eldridge Clifton King and Annie Lenora Wood King. Dean served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Mountain Point Ministries Church on Straight Mountain where he was of the Church of God faith. He loved to fish, travel all over, do photography work, and work in his garden where he had the most beautiful orchids and made the work look so easy. He is preceded in death by his parents Eldridge and Annie King, brother Worthie Clifton King, and sister Wanda King.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 66 years Anne Winsor King; children Van (Melissa) King Jr., Jerome Eldridge (Carolyn) King, and Charlotte King (Gary) Sasnett; grandchildren John Dakota King, Molly King, Cira Nicole Brown, Holly Danielle King, Stanley Shawn Collins, Clint Ashley Collins, and Bobby Jerod Smart; great-grandchildren Gavin Brewer, Ava Brewer, Atticus Brown, August Brown, Parker Collins, Eli Collins, Dansby Collins, Brantley Collins, and Noah Smart; sister Sharon King Huffstutler; a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later time with Lemley Funeral Home and Crematory directing.
