Treat in store for students at Hayden

What is math, anyway? How many is a few? How many in a bunch? What do you call a group of dragons?

Students at Hayden Elementary School will get to experience the Children’s Dance Foundation’s Math in Motion,
a performance that uses music, movement, and a curious collection of everyday objects to investigate math concepts. Four professional dancers perform the 45-minute show.

The performance, to be presented Friday, Jan. 22, at 1:30 p.m., is funded by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts. Hayden is one of 29 schools in 19 counties benefiting from the council’s statewide Rural School Touring Program.

The Math in Motion
production has been recognized as a national model and provides significant learning opportunities for students.
