J.P Dice, chief meteorologist for Fox 6 News, will be the guest speaker at today’s Blount County- Oneonta Chamber of Commerce luncheon, starting at noon at Twin Oaks at Heritage.
Dice is known as an innovator in broadcast meteorology. In 2004, he led the development of the first dual-polarization Doppler radar. He was awarded best weathercaster in the state by the Alabama Associated Press in 2004, 2006, and 2009. When he’s not looking at the sky, you might find him in the sky. He’s a private pilot and a high flyer, having pulled Gs with the Navy’s Blue Angels in an F/A-18 Hornet.
A special presentation will be made to Ella Goodwin and family in memory of the late Rev. Bert Goodwin. A resolution honoring him was passed by the Alabama Legislature, co-sponsored by Reps. David Standridge of Hayden and Mack Buttram of Cullman. The family will receive a certificate.
The luncheon will be sponsored by Spring Valley Beach one of the Chamber’s Sustaining Partners.
