Tigers too tough for Eagles



The J.B. Pennington Tigers got off to a rough start but then rolled to a 31-14 victory at Pisgah last Friday night. With the victory, Pennington improved to 1-1 overall, 1-0 in 3A Region 6, while Pisgah dropped to 0- 2 overall, 0-1 in the region.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead by recovering a Tiger fumble in the end zone.

However, the Tigers rolled up 17 points in the second quarter and took a 17-14 lead to the half.

The Tigers dominated the Eagles in the second half with a touchdown in each of the final two quarters to post the victory.

Brandon Butts led the Tiger offense, completing 11 of 19 passes for 260 yards with two touchdowns. His touchdown passes covered 51 yards to Joseph Roberts and 46 yards to Timmy Johnson.

Andrew Kaplan had three catches for 30 yards.

Butts led the Tigers with 61 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Mason Campbell had a 25-yard touchdown run in the second half.

Tyler Love led the Pennington defense with 16 tackles, four for loss, including two sacks. Campbell added 15 tackles, two for loss.
