Tiger second half upends Hornets

The Locust Fork Hornets led the Springville Tigers 7-0 at the half but the home team scored 35 unanswered points over the final two quarters to take a 35-7 victory.

The Hornets used a little trickery to score their touchdown. Facing fourth down near midfield, Chris Davis took a fake punt 48 yards for the touchdown to give the visitors a 7-0 lead.

The score stayed that way for that remainder of the first half and deep into the third quarter.

However, the Tigers finally got running back Demarcus Tremble going and the Hornets wore down over the final quarter.

Davis had a big game for the Hornets, finishing with 94 yards rushing on 16 carries. Tate Dyar added 27 yards on seven carries.

Kyle Hornbuckle completed 8 of 20 passes for 46 yards with one interception.

Locust Fork finished with 198 yards of offense – 150 on the ground and 48 through the air.

The Hornets (0-9) will close out the season at Hayden (4-5) this week.
