Three people have been charged with crimes related to a homicide on Ebell Road in Oneonta earlier this month, according to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey and law enforcement officials,
Donald Clayton Whited, 66, was found in a burnedout house on Monday, Jan. 13, according to Casey. After an autopsy was performed, the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Jimmy Lane Maxwell, 58, of Oneonta, has been charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder, according to Casey. As of Tuesday, he was in the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $150,000 bond.
Kenneth Owen Whited, 58, of Oneonta, has been charged with solicitation to commit capital murder, Casey said. Whited posted his $150,000 property bond and has been released from the Blount County Correctional Facility.
Pamela Ellen Rains, 54, of Oneonta, has been charged with hindering prosecution, according to Casey. As of Tuesday, Rains was in the Blount County Correctional Facilitywithaabondsetat$80,000.
The cases will be presented to the grand jury for further charges, according to Casey.
Casey commended the work of the Blount County Sheriff’s Department, the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Oneonta Police Department, and Oneonta Fire and Rescue.
