Threats lead to Southeastern student’s suspension

A 17-year-old Southeastern student was suspended on Thursday after allegedly threatening to do something to the school, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.

Blount County Supt. Rodney Green confirmed the student made inappropriate comments and/or threats pertaining to the school, but those comments have been addressed.

“The school is 100 percent safe,” he said.

Information on what the juvenile was planning to do has not been released. Extra security was present on school grounds Thursday and Friday. The investigation into those inappropriate comments is continuing, according to Green.
