The flu can’t keep them down

Lester Memorial United Methodist Church children’s choir entertained at the annual Blount County Oneonta Chamber of Commerce breakfast in the church fellowship hall last week. The program also featured scripture readings and a message from retired pastor Barry Hallman. Chamber executive director Barbara Andersen said, “I really appreciate all the effort that everyone at Lester Memorial puts into this program every year. It’s always a very special time for the Chamber and the community as we come together to celebrate Christmas.” Pictured, front row from left: John Tyler Russell, Ryder Buckner, Kade Butts, Ellie Gehri, Anna Roddam, Louella Mae Crow, and Cecilia Harvey. Back row: Padric Peavy, Tyler Butts, Lily Wilson, Lucy Ashby, Attie Harvey, and Kearstin Wilson.

The choir, with additional members, went on to perform their Christmas program “The Fumbly, Bumbly Angels” that same evening, despite having to reschedule twice due to the majority of the cast having the flu. Attendees were heard to say it was the best Christmas program ever!
