Being a bit stir crazy following the great snow of 2014, I decided to do a little work at our new home in Rosa. After building some storage shelves and emptying some moving boxes, I did what any red-blooded American man would do – I piled the boxes and wood scraps in the pasture and set them ablaze.
Within minutes, the pasture was in flames. Arnold Ray (my new neighbor) and I tried but could not contain it, and it was threatening the surrounding houses and barns. So, I called 911. Right away I heard the welcome sirens as the truck sped to the rescue.
I am writing this letter to thank the Rosa Volunteer Fire Department for their quick and professional response. What a great group of men and women. Truly, they are heroes. Also, I would like to thank our local 911 staff for handling my desperate call so well. This experience has taught me the value of our local emergency response team, good neighbors, and a forgiving wife. Jim Ed Clayton
