Dear Blount County Community,
I wish to thank those who attended the Talladega College Choir concerts last week. Your presence indicates the community’s support for varied cultural exposures.
In addition to attendees, I wish to thank those who helped make the events possible. I often want to think of myself as independent but then realize how dependent I am on others to enrich my own life and experiences.
I will likely omit some but do not believe I should take that possible omission as an excuse not to name any. Beverly Ellis provided advice and constant availability and support; Donna Wilson and Ginger King along with others of the Lester Memorial UMC meals service planned and prepared dinner for over 50 that evening. Lester’s pastor, Barry Hallman, its ministerial and security staffs, sound equipment operators, secretary, and entire membership provided services and underwrote expenses related to providing the venue. Several volunteered as greeters.
Some of the restaurants in town, Jeremy, Chris, and Tim at the radio station, Facebook friends, and others publicized the programs. The Oneonta High School and Palisades Park staffs, Amy Rhudy, at the local museum, Stanley Moss with the Blount County Historical Society, and Chase Moore and the Community Arts Council of Blount County provided assistance, funding, and/or supporting in-kind services.
Some asked about any love offering or donation. Having advertised the church concert as free, I had not planned on receiving an offering. For those interested, you may make tax deductible donations in person or through the mail (P.O. Box 626, Oneonta, AL 35121) to Lester Memorial United Methodist Church, designating such for the TC Choir. Alternatively, you may send a choir designated check to Talladega College, 627 Battle Street West, Talladega, AL 35160.
In appreciation to a supportive community,
