Terry Sligh Chevrolet will host a barbecue contest called “Rib Rally” this Saturday, May 20, at the dealership lot in Oneonta – with an open house included to boot.
“Come out and cook for a cause during Blount County’s first ever Rib Rally!” exhorts the sauce-colored flyer for the event. All proceeds will benefit OFFER (Oneonta Foundation For Educational Resources) and BCEF (Blount County Education Foundation). Registration is $100 per team for both professionals and backyard barbeque warriors. Prizes of $100 to $250 for first through third places and people’s choice winning cooks.
Here’s how it works. Buy your Pig Bucks for $3, then trade them for barbecue from the competitor( s) of your choice. Check out the new Chevy cars and trucks while you dine on hickory-smoked barbecue and savory sauce.
Time is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The Terry Sligh Chevrolet team invites the community to take part in the summer’s official kickoff cookout and open house, and to support local education in the process. For further information, call (205) 625-3741.
