The Susan Moore Bulldogs put themselves right in the thick of the playoff race with a dominant 50-29 win over Winston County last Friday night in Double Springs.
Susan Moore got on the board early – and often.
Kobe Justice went 65 yards for a touchdown on the second snap of the game and the Bulldogs never looked back.
Winston County looked to answer on their ensuing possession but Jesse Chappell picked up a Yellow Jacket fumble and went 99 yards on the return to put the Bulldogs up 15-0 after one quarter of play.
Susan Moore got 17-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Duncan to Angel Duarte early in the second quarter and Justice added the two-point conversion to give the Bulldogs a 23-0 lead.
Winston County put together a touchdown drive but the Bulldogs got a pair of rushing touchdowns from Duarte – 4 yards and 77 yards – to lead 37-7 at the half.
Duncan had touchdown runs of 15 and 61 yards in the third quarter as the Bulldogs built the lead to 50-13 after three quarters.
Susan Moore rolled up 453 yards, including 391 on the ground. Winston County had 424 yards of offense but turned the ball over three times.
Duncan led the Bulldogs with 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just nine carries. He also completed 2 of 3 passing for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Justice had 10 carries for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Duarte was all over the stat sheet. He had six carries for 89 yards and two touchdowns, caught two passes for 62 yards and a score, hit four of five extra points, and had two tackles.
Chase Black led the Bulldog defense with eight tackles, Biviano Tinajero had six stops, and Morgan Kent and Tyler Russell had five tackles each. Russell, Chappelle, and Chris Quick had fumble recoveries.
