A Susan Moore High School teacher has been arrested and charged with transmitting obscene material to a child, according to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.
Crystal Clowdus, 32, turned herself in Friday afternoon at the Blount County Correctional Facility. She has since been released after posting a $100,000 bond.
Clowdus, who had been placed on paid administrative leave, was under investigation for sending sexually explicit text messages and photos to a student.
In a related matter, Casey has asked the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) to look into why school officials did not report the incident to law enforcement officials immediately. Other teacher placed on leave
A separate incident last week led to another Susan Moore High teacher being placed on leave.
Blount County Supt. Jim Carr confirmed that a second teacher has been accused of inappropriate touching by an eighth-grade girl.
Carr said the male teacher, who is also a coach at the school, was placed on administrative leave while an investigation is being conducted.
