A Susan Moore High School teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation into a possible inappropriate relationship with a student takes place.
The incident or incidents in question are in relation to text messages and photographs of a sexual nature exchanged with a high school student, according to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.
“We were made aware of this on Monday while the school system was aware of it last week,” she said. “The law requires immediate reporting which did not occur in this case. In addition to investigating the teacher we are also investigating why the system did not report this immediately.”
Casey said she has asked the Alabama Bureau of Investigation to determine why school officials did not report the incident immediately, as required by law.
“We take the safety of all of our students very seriously and we are working with the authorities in this investigation,” said Blount County Supt. Jim Carr
