Susan Moore High School students began the year with between 5-10 students attending the Fellowship of Christian Athletes weekly meetings. The students, along with sponsors Adam NeSmith and Kelli Allison, wanted to grow the group and show the community that students are changing the high school for the better. During the year, local pastors, students, teachers, and community leaders were invited to speak at the meetings, and attendance grew. And grew.
Throughout the year, the club provided goody bags to several sports teams, sponsored a Bible ministry and gave away more than 200 Bibles, along with bottled water and fruit to fellow students. Once a month, the group handed out 100 Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits at the school. The FCA leaders will attend leadership conferences this summer and plan to come back this fall with more ideas to positively impact the students and community. How many students were attending the meetings at school’s end? More than 100, with a high of 113 at the last meeting.
The group wishes to thank Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church, Union Hill Baptist Church, and the many individuals who have helped the organization grow during the year.
