Registration is now open for Expanding Horizons, a program conducted by The Blount County Education Foundation, which provides summer library access and summer camp opportunities for students in all grades.
Camps this year will include art, music, math, science, theater, ACT prep, breadmaking, going green/outdoor, getting someone’s attention and keeping it, and skins and skulls (an outdoor skills camp).
Specific camps will be hosted at certain places across the county, including schools and the Frank Green building in Oneonta. The camp locations anddates can be found by visiting the Blount County Board of Education website or is detailed in the flyer handed out to students during school.
The elementary libraries of Susan Moore, Cleveland, Hayden, Southeastern and Locust Fork will be open every week in June and July as well as Hayden Primary and Hayden High.
Appalachian library will be open June 5 through July 10.
Locust Fork High School library will be opened May 30, June 6, 13, 20, and July 25. Days and times libraries are open:
Susan Moore Elementary – Monday, 10 a.m. until noon.
Appalachian – Tuesday, 9 a.m. 11:40 a.m.
Cleveland Elementary – Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Hayden Elementary – Tuesday, 10 a.m.- noon.
Hayden High – Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Southeastern -Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Locust Fork High – Wednesday, 10 a.m. – noon.
Hayden Primary – Wednesday, 9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Locust Fork Elementary – Thursday, 10 a.m. – noon.
All camps are free to Blount County students who may attend any camp location but must register beforehand.
