These students smile joyously as they learn their generosity will spell happiness for some children around the world. They are among more than 40 third-grade students from Oneonta Elementary School whose participation in Operation Christmas Child (OCC) demonstrates compassion and the true spirit of Christmas. OCC is a unique project of relief and evangelism that delivers gifts to children in several countries and offers them hope. These children are victims of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect. The Oneonta students’ generosity helped fill and send 20 boxes packed with toys, candy, school supplies, and personal hygiene items. Each box also contained a letter written by the student to the recipient of the shoebox gift.
