Students and animals win again

Two county FFA’ers and one 4-H’er showed champions at the 2011 Alabama Junior Beef Expo held in March at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery. One student brought home a fistful of wins.

Will Graves, member of Cleveland FFA, exhibited the Supreme Champion bredand owned heifer, which was also named Champion and Reserve Champion Chi-influenced heifer. Graves exhibited the Champion bred-andowned commercial heifer as well and the Reserve Champion Alabama-bred steer, which was also named Champion Alabama-bred heavyweight steer.

Kirsta Murphree, J.B. Pennington FFA member, exhibited the Champion Charolais heifer, and Jacob Gossett, member of Blount County 4- H, showed the Champion percent Simmental heifer.

In the showmanship classes, Murphree, Graves, and Ty Posey of Blountsville placed third in their age divisions.
