Stomping out child abuse

On Friday, April 26, more than 75 members of the Blount County community took part in the fifth annual Child Abuse Awareness Walk organized by Blount County Department of Human Resources. The number of child abuse cases continues to increase each year and this walk is just one way to raise awareness of the urgency to protect the county’s most precious resource.

With police escort, the participants held banners, signs, and blue pinwheels as they walked from the DHR building to the courthouse steps. After a short presentation, a salad lunch was provided. Event organizer Alicia Tolbert said she was excited about the number of people who chose to participate. She said that stomping out child abuse is a team effort, and she is grateful for everyone who plays a part in protecting children.
