HAYDEN HIGH SCHOOL QUARTERBACK CLUB will host a bass fishing tournament on Saturday, March 17, at Smith Lake. The entry fee is $50 per boat (it is tax deductible) and entries will be accepted the day of the event. There will also be an optional $5 big fish pot and half of all tournament fees collected will go to the Hayden High School Quarterback Club. Regular tournament rules will apply – spotted/ largemouth bass only, no dead fish will be weighed. The tournament will launch at first light from the Smith Lake Dam. TOWN OF BLOUNTSVILLE is accepting applications for volunteer cheerleader coaches for the fall season. All applicants must pass a criminal background check as required by the town and concussion training as required by the state. Applications will be taken through Friday, March 23. BLOUNT COUNTY YOUTH BASEBALL CAMP hosted by the town of Blountsville will be Saturday, March 24. There will be two sessions – 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – at the town park (weather permitting) or at the J.B. Pennington gym. Session one will stress offensive and defensive fundamentals and session two will focus on pitching and catching. The camp will be hosted by local high school coaches, current and past college coaches, and guest coaches – including former Boston Red Sox pitcher and Wallace State pitching coach Chuck Davis.
