The board met again Nov. 29 to finalize changes in the original articles of incorporation as well as to adopt the nomination form for the 2018-2019 class. Nomination forms will be accepted through January 15 and new inductees will be recognized during the Hall of Fame banquet to be held March 7 at Anchors Church.
Nomination forms are available from any Blount County Sports Hall of Fame member, at all Blount County schools, Oneonta City schools, the schools’ websites, the Blount County Commission office, the Blount County Revenue Commissioner’s office, and city and town halls. You can email bcsportshof@gmail. com to request a form as well.
In a press release, the committee said, “We want to encourage everyone to support the Hall of Fame and nominate someone they feel should be honored for their contribution to sports in Blount County. Also, we want to recognize teams in Blount County for their significant accomplishments.
“Athletics in Blount County brings excellence and pride to our communities. Each member looks forward to restoring the celebration of athletics in our county. We want to help ignite our passion for sports, rekindle fond memories, and honor our history in sports. Blount County has a lot of sports history to be proud of, and we want to recognize and pay tribute to Blount County student athletes, coaches, and teams for their achievements and contributions to Blount County athletic programs.”
Individual tickets for the ceremony are $25. A table of 8 is $200. Partnerships are also available for $200.
