Southeastern announces new football coach

Southeastern named Kevin Byrd their high school head football coach last week. Byrd comes from Clark County (11-3) where he served as defensive coordinator, linebacker and running back coach. Before Clark County, Coach Byrd assisted Sweet Water High School in winning three state championships.

After Southeastern’s 2-8 season, Byrd “wants to be different.” He believes defense wins games. Byrd plans to make this team have a “sound defense and execute their offense focusing on ball control.” Byrd is enthusiastic about Southeastern, saying “the facility is awesome and the faculty is awesome.”

Coach Byrd has been married to his wife Paula for 23 years and they have four children. They plan to move to Blount County this summer.
