The Blount County Sheriff’s Office and Blount County 911 are partnering together to host Shop With a Cop on Monday, Dec. 23. The purpose of this event is to help out a Blount County family in need and also allow several children to help purchase items to make this Christmas a joyous occasion for one or more families.
Sheriff Mark Moon said donations are being taken at HomeTown Bank through Friday, Dec. 20. On Dec. 23, those chosen will accompany Sheriff’s office and 911 personnel to Walmart to purchase Christmas gifts. Once the shopping is complete, the team will travel to the deserving family’s home with the gifts.
To nominate children to help shop or to nominate a family in need, Sheriff Moon said to send the request to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office Facebook messenger page. For those children wanting to shop with a cop, please send their name, age, and why they want to help make a family’s Christmas even brighter. For those wanting to nominate a deserving family, submit the family’s name and the reason for their need to the above mentioned page.
Moon said Shop With a Cop is grateful for the generous gift card Walmart provided to help kick off this event.
