Sheriff’s department gets new equipment

Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington and chief deputy William Ferry show off the department’s two newest pieces of equipment. As part of the federal government’s homeland security initiative, each county in Region 6 of the state’s law enforcement district got a new John Deere Gator and 18-foot enclosed trailer. The trailer comes completely wired for power with a generator and environmental control system. The department picked up the equipment on Feb. 19 at the Region 6 headquarters in Huntsville. The 10 counties that make up Region 6 are Blount, Cherokee, Cullman, DeKalb, Jackson, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan. – Rob Rice
