Alabama House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter recently tapped State Representative Randall Shedd (D-11) as the next chair of the House Republican Caucus Platform Committee. He joins 10 other Republican members of the House of Representatives to develop the House Republican legislative agenda for the 2022 legislative session.
In a statement, he said, “I am excited to accept the challenge, opportunity, and appointment. Our goal will be to listen to every Republican member of the House and the public to develop a conservative legislative agenda that reflects the values and heartbeat of Alabama Republicans.
“Once we hear from our members and the public, we will obviously work closely with Speaker Mac McCutcheon, Majority Leaders Ledbetter and Sen. Clay Scofield, Senate Pro Tem Greg Reed, all Republican senators, Gov. Ivey, and Lt. Gov. Ainsworth to be on the same page with strategy to timely pass the legislative agenda.”
Shedd also noted that the committee would reach out to the public. He and other committee members want to know what the public’s priorities are as they develop their legislative agenda.
“I certainly welcome hearing from the people in my legislative district,” he said. “I can assure the people of my district, their priorities are at the top of my list as we prepare for the next session.”
Alabama House District 11 consists of portions of Blount, Cullman, Marshall, and Morgan counties. Shedd also serves on the following committees: House Committee on Urban and Rural Development (chair), Children and Senior Advocacy Committee (vice chair), Alabama Rural Broadband Oversight Committee (vice chair), Alabama Digital Expansion Authority (vice chair), House Rural Caucus (officer), Joint House/Senate Transportation Committee (member), House Transportation (member), Utilities & Infrastructure Committee (member), Joint House/Senate Sunset Committee (member), and House Local Legislation Committee (member).
