Severe weather bulletin for TODAY

A squall line is approaching from the west, expected to reach Blount County between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. this morning. Damaging straight-line winds are the main threat, but isolated or single cell storms could produce brief tornadoes with little warning. Sustained winds in the 20-30 mph range are expected, with possibly higher winds at higher elevations. Residents are encouraged to remain alert to weather developments, particularly in the morning hours as the front passes, and prepare to take cover on short notice, if necessary. Winds will remain high for a time after midmorning, lessening somewhat after the front passes.
