ROBERT E. LAFAVRE, DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died Feb. 11, 2015, at the residence. The son of the late Charles E. and Ruth Arnall LaFavre, he served at one time as pastor of Union Hill Baptist Church. He retired from full-time ministry in 1999 after more than 60 years in the ministry at churches throughout the South. He was the author of three books, numerous articles, and wrote a weekly column titled “The Parson of Possum Trot.” He also served as executive editor of the Christian Index, state Baptist Newspaper of Georgia, and was vice president of the Georgia Convention, trustee of Truett- McConnell College (Baptist), president of the Atlanta Baptist Religious Education Association, and vice president of state Baptist religious education associations in Florida and Georgia.

Surviving are wife of 57 years Sabra Ann Brooks LaFavre; daughters Deborah Ann Thomas, Karen LaFavre (Tony) Collins, Maryland, Mary Jane Avant, Alabama; grandsons Jeremy (Lesley), Joshua (Evanne), Jason (Meghan) Black, Jonathan Avant; granddaughter Mikaela Collins; great-grandchildren Mia, Brock, Ayla, Brayden, Bryson; sisters Mary (James) Turner, Martha (Jimmy) Radford.

Bill Ferrand officiated the 10 a.m. service held Feb. 14 at First Baptist Church of Mossy Head, DeFuniak Springs. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Lemley Funeral Home directed locally.
