The Oneonta Redskins used a balanced offense to take down Westminster Christian 33-13 in Huntsville Friday night.
Oneonta got on the board first when Zach Dimmock scored on a 5-yard run. Juan Chavez’s kick gave the Redskins a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.
Westminster Christian got a 30-yard field goal from David Teitge with just 22 seconds left in the first quarter to cut the Redskin lead to 7-3.
The Oneonta lead was 13-3 at the half after Ko Powell broke free for a 20-yard touchdown run.
Teitge pulled the Wildcats to 13-6 in third quarter with a 39-yard field goal that just got over the crossbar.
Oneonta got a 68-yard kickoff return from Luke Wall to set up the next drive and Dimmock found Riley Cole for the score from 2 yards out. The kick was wide and the Redskin lead was 19-6 with 5:53 to play in the third quarter.
Dimmock hooked up with Cole on a 23- yard touchdown pass on the final play of the third quarter to put the Redskins up 25-6.
Westminster’s Tomoka Nelson busted a 55-yard touchdown run on the second play of the fourth quarter and the Tigers trailed just 25-13.
The Redskins weren’t done as Dimmock fired his third touchdown of the night – a 12-yarder to Jackson Devaney – on the next possession. Dimmock hit Wall for the twopoint conversion to put the Redskins up 33- 13.
Westminster finished the night with more yards – 281 to 274 – and snapped the football 62 times to Oneonta’s 49.
Dimmock completed 13 of 16 passing for 125 yards and three touchdowns. He added 12 carries for 4 yards and a score.
Powell had 103 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and also had a 66-yard touchdown reception called back on a penalty.
Cole caught four passes for 46 yards and two touchdowns while Wall had four receptions for 43 yards.
Cole led the defense with 19 tackles. Dimmock had 13 stops, two for loss, while Wall added 12 tackles. Austin Crim had 11 tackles, one for loss.
Oneonta (7-2) hosts Piedmont (7-2) this Friday.
