Redskins sign scholarships







Surrounded by family, friends, and coaches, Oneonta senior baseball players Luke Wall (left) and Carter Sims signed scholarships last week. Wall, a first team all-state selection as an outfielder, signed with Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette. He led the Redskins with a .484 batting average last year. He had a team-high 76 hits, including 18 doubles, four triples, and 40 RBIs while scoring 32 runs. Sims, a pitcher, signed with Meridian Community College in Mississippi. He was 8-3 last year with a 1.83 ERA. He held opposing batters to a .177 average and struck out 87 and walked 29 in 65 innings. He also played first base and batted .294 with a team-high three home runs with 33 RBIs. The Redskins were 34-10 last year, losing to eventual state runner-up Ardmore in the quarterfinals. -Rob Rice
