The Oneonta Redskins built a 28-12 halftime lead and cruised in the second half to a 62-25 victory over Susan Moore at Larry “Pod” Patterson Field last Friday.

The Redskins got a 23-yard touchdown pass from Taveris Hill to Jaden Kent to take a 7-0 lead after one quarter.

Susan Moore answered on the first play of the second quarter when Anthony Cervantes scored on a 12- yard run to tie the game 7-7.

The Redskins answered immediately, however, when Sincere Baker returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown and the Redskins were back on top 14-7.

Hill hit Brandon Howard with a 17-yard scoring strike two possessions later but Susan Moore fought back with a 1-yard run from Cervantes.

The Redskin lead was 21-12 but Oneonta put another touchdown on the board when Hill scored on a 10- yard run with just 13 seconds left in the first half.

Susan Moore pulled to 28-18 in the third quarter when Andrew McEvoy hooked up with Gabe Ramirez on a 28-yard touchdown pass.

Oneonta came back with a 6-yard touchdown run by Baker to make it 35-18 after three quarters.

Susan More looked to answer once again but Oneonta’s Howard picked off a Bulldog pass in the fourth quarter and brought it back 60 yards for a touchdown.

Oneonta got touchdown runs from Devin Pendleton (11 yards) and Mason Adcock (1 yard) while Cervantes had a 1-yard run for his third score of the night for the Bulldogs.

Oneonta outgained Susan Moore 434 to 259 and outrushed the Bulldogs 304 to 190.

Hill was an efficient 6 of 11 passing for 130 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries.

Baker added 97 yards and two touchdowns on 16 attempts.

Kent caught three passes for 65 yards and a touchdown while Howard a pair of catches for 52 yards and a score.

Kevin Crim led the Redskin defense with 15 tackles while Kavan Hill had 13 stops. Jaden Kent had 12 tackles with a fumble recovery and an interception return for a score and Mike Brooks had 11 tackles, three for loss. Baker and David Hall had fumble recoveries.

Susan Moore was led by Cervantes, who bulled his way for 90 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.

McEvoy rushed 17 times for 86 yards and completed 3 of 5 passing for 69 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

McEvoy led the Bulldog defense with five tackles while Joey Espinoza and Julian Calderon had four stops each.

Oneonta forced three turnovers – two fumbles and an interception – and the Redskin offense did not turn the ball over on the night.

Big region games for each this week as Susan Moore (1-4 overall, 0-2 in 3A Region 6) travels to Hanceville (1- 5, 0-3) while Oneonta (2-3, 1-2 in 4A Region 5) hosts Hokes Bluff (4-1, 2-1) this week for homecoming.
