The school year is winding down, but that doesn’t mean everyone gets to relax and coast through May.

Locust Fork and Oneonta varsity baseball teams are still in it to win it. Locust Fork faces Lauderdale County on the road this week while Oneonta travels to Hokes Bluff.

All-county baseball players have been named and the list appears this week on our sports page.

In other spring sports, five varsity softball teams won area championships and earned a trip to Tuscaloosa. Appalachian, Cleveland, Hayden, Locust Fork, and Oneonta will all play this week for a chance at the state title.

Students from all eight schools competed in the AHSAA state track meet last week. Five athletes from three schools earned medals.
