I have been a resident of Blount County for four years and have been very pleased with Commissioner Dean Calvert’s service to Blount County and its citizens. I cannot believe that his private life would, in any way, negatively affect his ability to perform the duties of the office to which he was elected.

Why is a private conversation being allowed to cause such turmoil in his and his family’s lives? How many of us have ever said anything in private that would have offended SOMEBODY if made public? Furthermore, why is the person responsible for this uproar, i.e. the person who made this private conversation public, not being held accountable for his/her actions?
