Radio Shack back with new owners, management

The new Radio Shack store held its grand opening last week in the strip shopping area beside Uncle Sam’s BBQ. Local leaders flocked to the event: (from left) police chief James Chapman, city manager Ed Lowe, Probate Judge David Standridge, new store owner Harold Guin, chamber president Charles Carr, Oneonta Mayor Darryl Ray, and Oneonta councilmen Tim McNair, Danny Robinson, and Mark Gargus.

“We’re a franchise, but we’re not a corporate store,” said owner Guin. “That means we’re more in control of our pricing, promotions, and so on, and we’ll probably have some special offers later on. We’ll specialize in things like home theater, high-end video, and amateur radio, along with individual components that you need. All our employees are very knowledgeable. I’m an electronics engineer myself with a background in telecommunications, and Wendy Dobson is a store manager of long experience. We’ll help you make the right decisions on all your electronics needs, and help you pick the right stuff,” he said.
