A public safety fair is being sponsored Saturday, March 19, from 9 a.m. till 12 noon by Oneonta Public Library and Oneonta Fire Department. The fire department will have information about fire and weather safety and will have a fire truck for display in the library parking lot. Oneonta Police Department will have information about the “Stranger Danger” program and provide participants the opportunity to meet new K-9 officer Tommy Herd and his dog Negao. Blount County Emergency Management will have information on emergency and disaster preparedness and how to prepare individual and family disaster kits. The public will also have the opportunity to meet Blount County District Attorney Pam Casey and learn her plans for making the county a safer place.
