Faye Pierce of Oneonta brought in the first daffodils of the year to the office of The Blount Countian on Thursday, Feb. 6, and received a free one-year subscription. This annual tradition was put in place many years ago by Molly Howard and we still happily honor it. I smile and think of Molly every year when someone brings them in. Molly called them buttercups; I call them daffodils; some call them Jonquils. Whatever you choose to call them, they are beautiful and they are my favorite flower. They are the first sign of hope that Spring is coming when winter is still upon us. Thank you Ms. Pierce for brightening up our office with your beautiful flowers! -Jenna Wood
