The Redskins bounced back from a 0-2 loss to Cullman beating St. Clair County 10-0 at home Feb. 23. The win puts them at 1-0 in 4A-5A Area 11 play. On Thursday, the Redskins faced the Glencoe Yellow Jackets. Isaac McMinn got the start in the net with the Redskins recording their second straight shut out in a 4-0 win.

With that win, the Redskins are 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in region play. Ashville comes to Gilbreath Stadium Thursday in a region match up that will start at 7 p.m. Varsity girls

Coming off a 3-2 win against Arab, the Lady Redskins hosted St. Clair County Feb. 23. The Lady Redskins’ defense was solid as was the offense. They scored two goals in the first half and added a third in the second. St. Clair County couldn’t get anything going with Oneonta winning 3-0.

On Thursday, the Lady Redskins faced a tough Glencoe squad. The Lady Yellow Jackets knocked off Oneonta 4-1. The Lady Redskins are 2-2 overall, 1-0 in 4A-5A Area 11. They host Ashville in a region matchup at 5 p.m. tomorrow. J.B. Pennington Varsity boys

The J.B. Pennington Tigers smashed the East Lawrence Eagles squad 10-0 Feb. 23. Senior Diego Soliz led the scoring with four goals and eight points. Senior Rodolfo Serrano scored three goals and had six points. Carlos Perez, Fabian Mejia, and Jose Serrano each had one goal. Max Cartagena was perfect in the net.

On Thursday, the Tigers traveled to Arab where the Knights shut the Tiger offense down winning 4-0. The Tigers are 4-1 and open 1A-3A Region 7 play this week against St. Bernard Prep. On Thursday they travel to Danville in another region match up. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. Varsity girls

The Lady Tigers traveled just a few miles down the road Feb. 23 for a game against the No. 1 ranked Susan Moore Lady Bulldogs. Susan Moore was too much for the Lady Tigers who gave up 10 goals while the Lady Bulldogs kept Pennington off the boards. The 0-10 loss moves the Lady Tigers to 0-3 on the season. They travel to Danville Thursday in their first region game. Start time is 5 p.m. Susan Moore Varsity boys

Susan Moore was overwhelmed by Tanner and Collinsville last week.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs played the Tanner Rattlers at home. Susan Moore struggled to get the ball past the Rattler defenders scoring only once in the 1-8 loss. On Thursday, the Bulldogs hosted the Collinsville Panthers in a 1A-3A Region 6 test. The Bulldogs were overwhelmed by the Panthers, who won 5-1.

Monday evening, the Bulldogs hosted Weaver. The Bearcats narrowly won 3-2. On Friday, the 1-4 Bulldogs travel to Sylvania for a 7:30 p.m. game. Varsity girls

The Lady Bulldogs haven’t slowed down since they kicked their season off a few weeks ago. After Monday’s win over Weaver, Susan Moore is a perfect 12-0. Last Tuesday, they shut out J.B. Pennington 10-0. Claire Perkins scored six goals, had three assists, and 10 steals. Kristy Cervantes had four goals, five assists, and eight steals.

Last Thursday they knocked off Collinsville 11-1. Perkins scored seven goals with two assists and seven steals. Cervantes, Mia Martinez, Claribel Robles, and Briley Dutton all scored one goal.

Monday the Lady Bulldogs got another shut out. This time a 7-0 win over Weaver. The Lady Bulldogs head to Sylvania Friday for a 5:30 p.m. game.

According to MaxPreps, Susan Moore’s Perkins currently leads the nation in points with 131 and goals with 56. Cervantes sits atop the national assists leaderboard with 31. Robles is second with 25 and Perkins is third with 19. Cervantes is ranked second in points with 63 and is No. 10 on the goals leaderboard with 16. Robles’ 39 points puts her in ninth place.
