Pennington pounds Lions



The J.B. Pennington Tigers opened the season with a big victory on the road, taking apart Brindlee Mtn. 50-14 last Friday night.

The visiting Tigers led 15-7 after one quarter, 29-7 at the half and 43-7 after three quarters.

Junior quarterback Noah Allison put on quite a show, completing 12 of 16 passing for 196 yards with three touchdowns and an interception and rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries. He also kicked three extra points, had a punt of 57 yards and registered four tackles on defense.

Allison’s touchdown passes went for 44 yards (Cade Timmerman), 35 yards (Cole Littleton) and 26 yards ( Jaxon Bullard) and his touchdown runs covered 44 yards and 16 yards. The Tigers also got a pair of 2-yard touchdown runs from Jalon Bullard and Sheldon Blythe.

The Tiger defense limited Brindlee Mtn. to 179 yards of offense, including just 88 on the ground.

Luke Cassity led the Tigers with seven tackles while Ethan Williams and Jaxon Bullard had five stops each. Will Franklin had a fumble recovery – caused by Jacob Blackwood – and Blackwood also had a sack.

Pennington (1-0) hosts Boaz (0-10 in 2016) this week.
