Imagine biting into a juicy, ripe peach. Now’s the time! Local farmers are out picking peaches. Allman Farms and Orchard, Hazelrig Orchards, Whited Farm, and J&D Nursery (Witt Farms) all report fresh peaches available for purchase.
With favorable weather, farmers are beginning to have fresh local produce available. Whited Farm currently has onions, cabbage, squash, and zucchini. J&D Nursery in Sugar Creek has blackberries, green house tomatoes, and squash. Hazelrig Orchards in Cleveland has squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and cabbage.
Strawberries are still available at Jerry Marsh Farms in Locust Fork, J&D Nursery, and Whited Farm’s produce stand in Oneonta. Trina’s U-Pick Strawberries in Blountsville sold out and is closed for the season.
Be sure to get out and purchase all of the fresh goodness Blount County farmers have worked diligently to provide. The Blount County Farmer’s Market opens Tuesday, June 2. Many more farmers will have locally grown fruits and vegetables available, as well as other goodies.
