celebrates 50 years





Park Avenue Baptist Church will hold a homecoming celebration at the church on Sunday, Aug. 10, to honor its 50th anniversary. The worship service will be at 10:30 a.m. with former pastor Dan Sims bringing the message. A fellowship luncheon will follow at 12:30 p.m. with singing to follow at 2 p.m. The singing will feature the church’s own gospel ensemble Saved by Grace, along with other special music, and hymn-singing by the full congregation. The church was established in 1964 with 130 founding members. Current membership is 335. A representative of the Baptist State Historical Commission will present the church with a 50th-year anniversary plaque. Odis Epps is pastor of the church. The music minister is Marco Deliz. The church is located at 909 Park Avenue in Oneonta, a block from Hope House and the Family Services Mall. – Ron Gholson
