The Cleveland Panthers secured at least a shot at a playoff spot with a 35- 7 thrashing of the visiting Falkville Blue Devils last Friday night.
Cleveland piled up 300 yards of offense and was never seriously threatened by a Blue Devil offense that has had problems putting points on the board this year.
Dusty Cornelius led the Panther ground game with 96 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Through the air, Cornelius was 7 of 16 for 151 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Geoffrey Gammon caught four passes for 55 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Chas Cornelius caught two for 74 yards and a score. Austin Hazelrig caught one pass for 20 yards.
Justin Pass had 26 yards on nine carries while Luke Awtrey had 14 yards and a touchdown on three attempts.
Josh Richardson led the Cleveland defense with eight tackles and a sack while Canaan Beavers had five tackles. Pass had four tackles and an interception; Gammon and Awtrey each had a fumble recovery.
Cleveland improved to 4-4 overall, 3- 3 in 2A Region 7. Falkville dropped to 1-7 overall, 1-5 in the region.
