The Cleveland Panthers opened their season with a big victory over Locust Fork, 41-7.
The Panthers took a huge lead in the first quarter, scoring 28 unanswered points. During the second quarter, Locust Fork put their only points on the board with a 49 yard fumble return for a touchdown. Cleveland tacked on an additional 13 points with rushing touchdowns from Dacquarrius Phillips and Andrew Green.
Leading rusher for the Panthers, Phillips, had 59 yards and two touchdowns. Parker Gilliland had 147 total yards, 53 rushing and 94 receiving, with one touchdown. Andrew Green had 33 yards and two touchdowns.
Kyle Willis led the defense with seven tackles and two sacks. Darrel Gilliland had six tackles.
Cleveland plays West End at home this Friday. Locust Fork travels to Fultondale.
